Today on B Blissful With B, I am throwing some truth about the biggest things that I struggle with on a daily basis (like depression, anxiety and disordered eating) and what I have done to overcome them! Since the winter of 2009 I have struggled with both depression and eating disorders, honestly I would guess that at least 90% of the people in my life aren't aware of these silent struggles. You might have some struggles of your own that the rest of the world isn't aware of, I feel ya sista (or brotha). I know many of us suffer in silence at least once in a while, that is why I wanted to tell you what I do to overcome my everyday struggles. The number one this is I have daily "non-negotiables" these are things that I do everyday that are not negotiable. My main ones are meditation, prayer and gratitude journaling. Those three things help me to ground, connect and fully support myself. But if I have other things going on in my body, mind or soul I might choose to add in some other self care like yoga, journaling or EFT (If you dont know what EFT is you can learn about it here https://www.biancamjohnson.com/post/tap-into-greater-peace). The second thing that I have done that was really transformational was let go of ideas of “right and wrong” “good and bad”. Rather than judging myself for not doing a specific thing or for eating something I “shouldn't” have. I instead choose to be a loving observer to how I FEEL in each present moment and set intentions to lovingly support myself in feeling even better. Today on B Blissful With B, I share the self care tips that I wish someone would have told me when I was getting started. With so much going on in our lives it is often difficult to ourselves first but as the old saying goes you can't pour from an empty cup. When we are getting started with self care rituals it can often be discouraging when we don't see results fast, when we feel like we aren't doing it "right" or when it feels challenging create time for ourselves. So my top tips for starting a self care practice are: 1. Remember that it doesn't all happen over night. I often say that transformation is a bunch of subtle shifts added up over time. Don't expect to do one meditation and immediately feel better. Know that it takes time. 2. You don't have to do "all of the things" during your self care time. With so many ways to practice self care from yoga to meditation to journaling to nature walks to visualizations and more, it is sometimes hard to find which ones are best for you especially when outsiders suggest that they know that way. The only way to know what is best for you is to try each practice on, maybe for a day, maybe for a week, maybe a month! But don't feel like you have to do all of the things all of the time, if your list of self care "non-negotiables" is too long it might feel like a chore list that leaves you resistant, discouraged and frustrated. Each day do only what feels good for you and forget the rest. 3. The first 10-60 min a day set tone for whole day. If you can do your self care practice right when you wake up it is the best time. Most of us already have busy mornings getting ready for our day so it is likely that you will need to get up a little bit earlier to really commit to your self care. Some experts say it takes 21 days to break an old habit and 21 days to form a new one, so AT LEAST 42 days before it stops feeling hard. Others suggest that it might take up to 66 days to really start getting in the flow of it! So don't give up on yourself. Continue committing to showing up until not practicing self care is harder than actually doing it. I found that having a set bed time routine helps me to stick to my morning routine. Today on B Blissful With B, I talk about what manifestation is and why you should care about manifestation. Manifestation is the art of becoming an energetic match for all of your deepest desires. "You attract not what you want but what you are" - Wayne Dyer If you focus on that which you lack in your life, you create a greater sense of lack but if you embrace the things your are grateful for you attract more of those things. For example if you are searching for a soul mate and you focus all of your attention on beliefs like "all the good ones are taken" or "love is hard" then you will have more experiences that confirm that belief. If instead you focus on all of the love that you already experience like with your friends, your family, your puppy, etc. you will effortlessly attract love into your life. So manifestation is really about being mindful of what thoughts, beliefs and emotions you are focusing on and how you can focus on the correct ones to live the life of your dreams. Whether you are consciously manifesting or unconsciously manifesting, you are ALWAYS manifesting. So why not manifest the things that you actually WANT?!
